AMOUZOU Helene born in 1969 in Togo.
She now lives in Brussels, took classes in photography at the Academie de dessin et des Arts visuels of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. For over six years, she decided to return the camera to it consistently.
As she says, she photographs herself continually, mostly in her attic. ... What are these incessant self-portraits?
Body embedded in the walls, shadows, light, movement, metamorphosis, hanging clothes, suitcase, Helene’s pictures are strong.
We might think the work of Francesca Woodman ... Yet the reality is different and every story is different. Maybe her approach is to try to find, find her hreself, to certify that she exists, because Helene is seeking its identity for years. Where is she really from?
The photos of Helene testify a painful question.
